The Day Has Come

The Day Has Come

The last few months have been a whirlwind of moving and renovating. We didn't move far geographically but we've gone through a complete transformation.

When I opened Electra Gallery 3 years ago it was with the intention to create a space where the creative spirit could thrive and where the connection between art and spiritual experience and practice would be celebrated. In my 20 years as an artist in the conventional art world I regularly encountered discomfort, stigma, and dismissal of spiritual matters when they were brought up in seminars and critiques. As an artist exploring those realms I learned to keep my visions and otherworldly experiences to myself and to talk about my work in formal and conceptual terms.

Over the past few years there has been a huge expansion in the public discourse around art and spirituality. The popularity of the Hilma af Klint retrospective at the Guggenheim Museum in 2019 initiated a wave of exhibitions, scholarly writing, and artist responses that have had an undeniable influence on the art world at large. It is exciting to be part of this moment and to contribute through exhibitions and events at Electra.

This new space promises to continue our mission of inspiring rich conversations and opportunities for connection in the local and visiting Santa Fe community. Thanks for being part of it!

We have a tremendous line-up of events for our opening weekend celebrations, including prizes and giveaways. Come check out the Spring Salon, take a workshop, and shop our outstanding new inventory of books and gifts!
